New Mexico Species Checklists & Sources of Information

NMBCC will provide dynamic checklists for New Mexico species in the near future. Until then, here are the most recent checklists and other species information available for New Mexico species.

Plants

The authoritative check list for New Mexico Vascular Plants is Kelly Allred's "A Working Index of New Mexico Vascular Plant Names." NMBCC is currently working to make this into a searchable database format.

The Rare Plant Technical Council maintains species accounts and other information for New Mexico Rare Plants .

Invertebrates

There currently is no comprehensive, authoritative checklist of New Mexico invertebrates. NMBCC is currently working to create the first state list based on the vouchered specimens in our system. For references on subgroups of New Mexico invertebrates see our page on New Mexico Invertebrate Biodiversity.
